Duty Station: Kampala,

Uganda


The African Network for Strategic Communication in Health and Development

(AfriComNet) is a regional association of health and development communication

practitioners, who reside, work or have a primary interest in Africa.


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the implementation of the

    AfriComNet Strategic Plan.

  • In charge of developing annual work plans

    and budgets.

  • Facilitate broad participation of members

    in Network activities.

  • Establish and maintain effective internal

    and external communication.

  • Serve as the main contact person for the

    media and the general public.

  • Keep the Board of Directors informed of

    Network activities through virtual of face- to-face meetings at least

    quarterly.

  • Serve as the Secretary to the Board of

    Directors.

  • Establish and maintain an updated database

    of Network members.

  • Represent AfriComNet at regional,

    international, and national conferences and meetings. x

  • Oversee and take responsibility for all

    Network finances, including financial reports to the Board of Directors,

    funders, the NGO Board, tax authorities, and others required by law.

  • Mentor and supervise the Secretariat Program

    Officers, Finance Officer, and interns;


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The incumbent should preferably hold a

    Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Administration, or related field.

    Additional training in public health, communication, financial management,

    Information technology is an added advantage.

  • At least five years’ experience managing a

    network secretariat or a non-governmental organization.

  • Excellent organizational and computer

    skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English

    required; knowledge of French, or Swahili an advantage.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.
