The Medical Research Council/ Uganda Virus Research Institute
(MRC/UVRI) Uganda Virus Research Unit on AIDS was established following a
request in 1988 from the Uganda Government to the British Government for
collaboration on the research of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection
and AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency). The Unit is a center of excellence in
HIV/AIDS related research. It conducts large-scale epidemiological and
intervention studies, clinical trials, virological and immunological research
and behavioural studies, and has generated a wealth of research results that
have been used to inform policy and practice, and that have led to a large
number of scientific publications in peer reviewed journals over time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely renewal of Annual Practicing
Licenses and registration certificates of researchers - Ensure proper filing of study documents
and receipts in properly labelled files - Obtain clearance for manuscripts from
UNHRO - Render support with printing and
assembling of documents for submission to the various regulatory bodies - Keep a record of documents coming and
leaving the office - In charge of ensuring GCP of all personnel
involved in research - Archiving of completed studies documents
- Works closely with the CRC, ensure
payments are made to the regulatory authorities in a timely manner. - Provide administrative support as advised
by the Communications and Engagement officer
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
- The Administrative Assistant should
preferably hold a good Bachelor’s degree in a related field - A minimum of two years’ experience
performing administrative duties - Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills - Organised, flexible and dependable
