 FINANCE Jobs -  at SOS Children’s Villages Uganda,Uganda Jobs,  Position Title:HEAD OF FINANCE    Organization:SOS Children’s Villages UgandaPrimary Location: SOS National Office Entebbe  Job Type : Full-time EmploymentClosing date: Friday 6th  June 2014The Head of Finance controls and coordinates all financial activities within the National Association (NA), ensuring that regional and international financial standards, procedures including reporting requirements are fulfilled. The position will work closely with other project heads within SOS Children’s Villages Uganda.
SOS Children’s Villages Uganda is an indigenous non-government, social development organisation affiliated to SOS Children’s Villages International, a worldwide child care organisation, currently running Children’s Villages and other projects in 135 countries around the world. SOS has been working in Uganda since 1991, and runs Children’s Villages and other projects at Kakiri, Entebbe (Abaita Ababiri), Gulu and in Fort Portal - Kabarole district. SOS Uganda subscribes to a child protection policy.PRINCIPLE TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Lead the development of the National Association annual budgets ensuring that organisational objectives are finically supported.2.Propose and implement new financial and administrative procedures aimed at strengthening projects activities.3.Plan and monitor monthly/quarterly cash flow disbursement for activities ensuring that cash budget disbursement for activities not implemented due to insufficient transfers is well implemented in the subsequent instalments or justified.     4.Supervise all organizational bank accounts and controls the opening and closing of accounts, change of signatories, inter-project transactions, and banking of revenues. 5.Ensures that fund-transfer requests are properly prepared, and made in time to ensure that sufficient funds are secured for project operations.6.Lead both internal & external financial audits making sure that is it is conducted promptly at the end of each financial year and that all necessary documentation is in place.  7.Researches tax requirements, as well as seeking opportunities for tax relief, exemptions or payments by government.  Ensures tax applications / payments, as well as statutory payments are timely and followed up8.Lead the preparation of monthly (and other) financial reports / statements to the Region Office9.Management of the procurement process within the National Association 10.Supervise payroll for the entire SOS Uganda NA based on the approved salary scale, ensuring that statutory deductions are accurate and promptly remitted. 11. Review monthly income and expenditure statements (and other parameters) and advises project managers as well as the National Director on needed action.12. Controls overall expenditure of the NA, ensuring that financial resources are used modestly and efficiently to support planned activities and for the benefit of the children. 13.  Ensures that all donations, fees and other incomes are adequately accounted for, and are promptly banked14.Reviews sponsor money gifts administration procedures, and ensure that the money gifts policy is followed and proper records are kept and monies are accounted for.15.Supervises the National Association’s fixed assets registers, regularly checking them to ensure that all assets are well documented and secure1.The ideal candidate should be aged between 30 and 40 years with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance and Accounting. 2.Professional qualification in ACCA, CIPA will be an added advantage 3.At least 3-5 years’ experience in a managerial position in a busy organisation/setting is required. Additional experience in NGO community funded programmes including managing donor grants will be of great advantage.4.Good knowledge and sound understanding of current financial management and funding arrangements is desirable.5.Experience and knowledge in the use of Navision accounting software is an added advantage.6.Ability to work well in a team comprised of people with diverse cultural and disciplinary backgrounds.
