The fellowship begins in July 2015 and extends through August 2016. Fellows engage in professional development training, mentorship and thoughtful community-building, and continue to draw upon their fellowship experience and the GHC alumni network as they build careers of lasting impact.

Applicants can apply for up to 3 different fellowship positions that match their interests and skills, from project management to monitoring and evaluation, supply chain management, logistics, communications and more. We are looking for people from a broad range of sectors and backgrounds.

Fellows are placed in organizations in pairs – one international fellow and one local fellow from the placement country – creating a fellowship team that is a central part of the fellowship experience.

About the Fellowship Placement Organization:Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is a national non-profit child health and development organization providing family centered pediatric HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment service as well as health professional training and clinical research in Uganda.

Mission: Baylor-Uganda is committed to providing high quality, high impact and highly ethical pediatric and family centered health care, health professional training and clinical research, focused on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, malnutrition and other conditions impacting the health and well being of children and families worldwide.

Fellowship Position Overview:The Fundraising/Resource Mobilization fellows role is to develop, monitor and review resource mobilization strategies for sustaining the organization’s programs in line with the strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a fundraising strategy and plan, in line with the strategic objectives of the organizationReview the organization’s budget so as to establish the program financial needs/gaps in line with Baylor’s strategic plan and financial policies and proceduresManage and review the preparation and development of fundable quality proposals for the organization’s program in accordance with proposal writing guidelinesDevelop and maintain relations with potential donors including local funding agencies, the corporate sector, and international donors in line with donor requirements and Baylor-Uganda’s funding policies and proceduresMonitor the implementation of funded projects by liaising with the responsible departmental heads to ensure quality and informed reporting to donors on a timely basis in line with contractual donor obligationsFollow-up project proposals submitted to donors and keep proper record of all correspondences in line with organizational requirementsWrite project and accountability reports and submit them to donors according to donor requirementsRaise Baylor-Uganda’s country profile through information sharing with donors and other stakeholders to ensure successful fundraising in line with the strategic objectives and official funding guidelinesFacilitate training of Baylor-Uganda staff and partners in fundraising and donor reporting in line with Baylor’s training strategy and guidelines

Required Skills and Experience:

Fundraising and resource mobilization skillsNegotiation skillsExemplary communication (oral and written) and report writing skillsEntrepreneurship skillsAbility to work under pressureProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point), data collection, validation and analysisProven English language writing and editorial skillsStrong interest in global public healthAbility to work in a team environment, but with self sufficiency and motivationStrong interpersonal skills coupled with excellent communication skills, verbal, written, listening, presentation and facilitationCapacity to multi-task; flexible and capable of working under pressure and tight deadlines with demonstrated ability to prioritize across multiple projects and relationships

Preferred Skills and Experience:

MBA, MPP, MPA, MPH or other relevant Masters degreeA post graduate qualification in Project Planning and Management will be an added advantage3 years of working experience in fundraising, mobilization and donor environment
