Director Applied Meteorology, Data and Climate Services.- Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) | - 2015

The Director Applied Meteorology, Data and Climate Services will oversee the analysis of data, and issue timely climate forecasts and advise accordingly.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Guides the Executive Directorate on Applied Meteorology, Data and Climate Services
Supervises running of Dynamical Climate Models to provide general and user specific meteorological products;
Ensures production of climate change indices and projections;
Manages the preparation of national agro-meteorological and hydro-meteorological products.
Oversees the production of timely seasonal climate forecasts and advisories;
Supervises research on climate variability, climate change detection, attribution and prediction.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The incumbent should preferably hold an Honors Bachelor in Natural Sciences and an additional Master’s degree in Meteorology or related fields (Environmental studies, Agriculture, Forestry, Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences)
Additional training in either Public Administration, Business Administration or Management Studies is an added advantage
Eight or more years’ experience in a related field with a reputable organization, 2 years of which should be at a senior managerial level
