Uganda National Meteorological Authority (formerly Department of
Meteorology) under Ministry of Water and Environment is a semi-autonomous
government authority for weather and climate services (UNMA Act. 2012) and a
focal institution to Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an
international body mandated to carryout scientific research on climate change.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively coordinate recruitment process
and provide guidance on the Authority salary scales and employees salaries
and benefits - In charge of preparing Performance
Management Contracts and appraisal systems - Actively promote and maintain sound
employer and employee relations - Guide Managers on the relevant
disciplinary actions - Identify training needs as per line
management requirements, skills audits, strategic skill requirements and
performance process. - Perform any other duties as assigned by
management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should preferably hold
an honors’ Bachelor in either Human Resource or Social Sciences degree and
an additional Post Graduate Diploma in related field. A professional
qualification in the related field is an added advantage. - A minimum of three years’ experience in a
related field with a reputable organization, 2 years of which should be at
senior managerial level.
