The Lutheran World Federation/DWS is an international humanitarian and development agency in South Sudan since 1998. Currently, LWF is operating in Jonglei, Upper Nile States and Juba. LWF South Sudan seeks to recruit suitable candidate for the following position. The selected candidate will be based in Juba


Position: Data Base Officer


Type of Contract: Short Four Months

Duties and Responsibilities


Job Role: The Data Base Officer is a member of the management team in Ajuong and will have the responsibility for overall management of all Ajuong donor active grants and delivery of professional data management standards. S/he will be responsible for managing data entry, training of staff on the use of the data bases, and provision of periodic data as required by the different departments of the programme both in Ajuong and Juba. The post will play a critical role in maintaining and updating – on a regular basis – LWF/DWS Maban databases and ensuring that these are in line with standard operating procedures.


Reporting:The holder of this position will work under the direct supervision of the Team Leader in Ajuongthok with technical guidance from Programe Technical Quality Manager in Juba; with a dotted liaison line to Child Protection and the Education Coordinators responsible for management of Ajuong respective donor grants. S/he will also assist the Child protection and Education Coordinators in the management of Data Collection, entry and analysis for the activities in the Refugee Camps in Panrieng County of Unity State.


Key Responsibilities:



  1. Design user friendly databases according to the education and child protection Projects’ data/information demands

  2. Use a master template to create enrolment database, using Microsoft Excel, for LWF/DWS Refugee Camps of operation.

  3. Recommend upgrading of databases in line with technology advancement and or data requirements

  4. Maintain data entry requirements by following and maintaining standard operational procedures.

  5. Prepare source data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information; establishing entry priorities.

  6. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  7. Process beneficiaries and account source documents by reviewing data for deficiencies; resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the data collectors for resolution.

  8. Induct all the Child protection and Education staff on the data systems set up and how to regularly update these to include drawing data for functional purposes.

  9. Enter beneficiaries and account data by inputting alphabetic and numeric information according to screen format

  10. Support Child Protection and Education Coordinators in designing data collection tools as necessary.

  11. Secure information by completing data base backups and the needed changes for reporting.

  12. Maintains beneficiaries’ confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential and secured.

  13. Facilitate, collect and record information regarding the overall statistics of Child Protection cases of the refugee children in LWF/DWS Refugee Camps of operation

  14. Liaise with the Child protection and Education Coordinator for any support or need for clarification.

  15. Submit statistical reports in line with the active donor grants reporting schedules

  16. Support establishment of other LWF/DWS databases on a roving basis and per demand

  17. Support and maintain the CPIMS and EIMS with regular updates.

Qualifications



Bachelor’s Degree in a related field require
Professional Data Base certification desired.
Fluency in English required.
Legal ability to work in South Sudan is required. Interest, knowledge, or training in international development.
Must demonstrate personal attributes such as loyalty and integrity in addition to being resourceful and flexible, which is inherent in this position.
