MU-JHU Care Ltd (MUJHU) is a
registered Ugandan non-governmental organization dedicated to providing services
and conducting research on HIV/AIDS care and prevention related to
mother-to-child transmission of HIV. MUJHU is implementing a US National
Institute of Health (NIH)-funded study entitled “Using Enhanced Peer Group
Strategies to Support Prevention of Mother To Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT)
Option B+ in Uganda” planned to take place in Mulago Hospital, Kampala, and
Mityana Hospital, Mityana District.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Manage
and coordinate the day to day activities of the study and ensure
collection of quality data - Take
part in screening and enrollment of study participants - Manage
the different staff involved in the study and ensure that all staff are
correctly carrying out their duties as relates to the study protocol and
regulatory requirements - Keenly
track enrolled study participants to ensure timely follow up study visits. - Regularly
verify and ensure correct completion of study forms and collection of
laboratory samples - Actively
participate in quality control (QC) and review of study documents - In
charge of the development and generation of study documents e.g. source
documents, study specific standard operating procedures, consent forms,
etc. - Work
closely with hospital staff and the study staff to ensure coordination and
minimize interferences between study activities and routine clinic work at
the PMTCT clinic - Participate
in preparation of correspondences with the study sponsors, IRBs and other
regulatory bodies as well as other stakeholders. - In
charge of the compilation and presentation of study updates/ reports - Study
specific training of staff - Coordinate
study team meetings - Offer
support supervision to study staff regularly - Participate
in any other duties assigned by the Program Manager
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
- The
incumbent should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBChB)
with at least 2 years working experience in a busy health institution, - Possession
of an MPH, MSC in clinical discipline (e.g., clinical epidemiology or
clinical trials) is an added advantage. - Computer
literacy skills are required - Consideration
will be given to persons with previous working exposure in a
multi-disciplinary, HIV/AIDS medical research or program set-up. - Working
knowledge and experience of working in a community set up will be an added
advantage. - The
desired person should be willing and able to multitask and should possess
strong leadership and interpersonal skills. - The
person must also be flexible to work upcountry as one of the study sites
is based in Mityana District.
