Gender Based Violence Prevention Specialist. – Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU)
Reports to: Secretary General
The Gender Based Violence Prevention Specialist will actively assist and coordinate a rapid implementation of the GBV programme and liaise with other organizations and actors to ensure a comprehensive prevention and response initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The incumbent will work closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders to draw and review strategic plans in line with the GBV principles and best practices
· Develop and maintain GBV mechanisms in line with the GBV framework and policies
· The incumbent will document and share programming information with your immediate Supervisor in line with the GBV Policy guidelines
· Prepare and submit timely periodic GBV monitoring reports for IRCU members and donors.
· Participate and co-ordinate IRCU reviews / reflections on GBV program activities
· Prepare and submit plans and budgets for the GBV function in line with IRCU financial procedures
· Identify and discuss with your immediate supervisor various Organizational Development programmes in line with international best practices and 0D strategies
· Actively participate in the sourcing and accounting of financial and material resources within the GBV section
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Secretary General.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should hold a good Master’s degree in law, international law, human rights law, and gender studies, social work, or other social sciences, public health, community health, or international relations related field.
· At least five years of professional experience in the area of gender-based violence, awareness and demonstrable knowledge of gender issues including reproductive health and protection issue.
· Working knowledge, skill, and experience in participatory methods for community development and mobilization
· Broad knowledge of knowledge management.
· Strong organization and management skills and the ability to work as a team and respond to deadlines.
· Excellent analytical skills.
· Excellent writing skills
· Good sense of judgment/discernment
· Representational qualities
· Ability to relate issues and perspectives, including gender issues, to political, economic, social and human rights programmes
