Africa
Development Corps (ADC) is an international nonprofit volunteer and development
organization which works in education, food security and public health. ADC is
based in Washington DC and currently works in four African countries at
present. ADC has worked in Uganda for 24 years, since 1991, and has run
education and public health programs in numerous districts, often utilizing the
services of skilled international volunteers. ADC is currently managing a peace
building and early childhood development program for South Sudanese refugees in
the Adjumani and Kiryandongo refugee camps, and a USAID sponsored library
management and book distribution program all over the country.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will manage 30 staff, including two expatriate
staff and the balance Ugandan staff.
·
Support high quality program delivery and consistent
monitoring and evaluation.
·
The CD will manage finances, logistics and human resources.
·
Actively promote ADC with donors and liaise with
them regarding education and potential public health programs.
·
Create new programs in education and public health
by assessing the needs on the ground and developing requisite programs with
donor support.
·
Assure that all program and financial reports are
completed and submitted in a timely manner.
·
Regularly report regularly to ADC headquarters
regarding program progress and proposed programs.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·
The applicant should preferably hold a Masters or
PhD degree in social sciences, education, public health or related fields
required.
·
A minimum of ten years’ experience working in
international development, preferably five years working in Africa.
·
Significant experience managing education and/or
public health programs in African countries required.
·
Excellent communication skills and a grassroots
mindset essential.
Job Terms and Benefits: This is a
long-term position, based in Kampala with frequent travel to the field. A
modest salary is provided based on donor commitments. Benefits include shared
housing in an ADC guest house, basic health insurance and one month paid leave
per year. Airfare is not provided, so one must cover their own airfare to and
from Uganda.
