delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern
and Central regions of Uganda, Currently, Save the Children has a staff
complement of over 200 persons. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights.
We help them fulfil their potential. In 2014, we reached over 143 million
children through our work around 52m directly and 91 million indirectly around
the world.
Job Summary: The Child
Rights Governance Coordinator works in liaison with the Senior Officers-CRG and
supports field teams/offices in coordinating and implementing of CRG
activities. The incumbent oversees national level CRG advocacy activities and
initiatives with government, CSOs and national level development partners. The
incumbent will be responsible for the monitoring programme quality, initiating
and participating in CRG-focused studies, documentation and dissemination of
innovations and good practices. The job holder will significantly contribute to
policy research and advocacy on CRG through networking and collaboration with
relevant civil society organisations and other institutions; playing a big role
in establishing, maintaining and expanding donor relations in the respective
thematic area. The Coordinator is also responsible for providing technical
assistance and appropriate monitoring and evaluation in emergency
responses.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree
in Human Rights, Governance, Social Science, related field, Social Work and
Social Administration, Development studies, Law, or any relevant field with
specific experience or training on the Child Rights Governance and Child Rights
Programming. Possession of a Post Graduate training in Project Management,
Community Development or a Master’s degree in any relevant field is an added
advantage.

A minimum of four years’ experience in implementing
programmes with strong linkage to the CRC, child rights governance and child
rights programming preferably with International NGOs.
·
Significant experience and exposure to ommunity
based social development and education projects with in an INGO particularly
those addressing children’s rights and those applying partnership approach is
desirable.
·
Broad knowledge and understanding of Save the
Children working principles and approaches Child Participation, Child Rights
Programming, Partnership, Child Safeguarding Policy, Zero Tolerance, Monitoring
and Evaluation, Programme Integration etc.
·
Proven financial, planning and budget management
skills mandatory
·
Past exposure and experience of working with local
partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health,
Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.

Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning
abilities.
·
Ability to establish and maintain conducive
collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
·
Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills
are a must.
·
Availability and willingness to work extra hours
during times of humanitarian responses.
·
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to
work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds
and cultures.
·
Ability to intervene with crisis management or
troubleshooting as necessary.
·
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
·
Excellent time management and planning capacity.
·
Availability and willingness to work extra hours
during times of humanitarian responses.
·
Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach
areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
