Cardno is
seeking to implement an anticipated USAID-funded Integrated Health Activity in
Northern Uganda. This project aims to increase utilization of health services
through increased availability of and accessibility to health services,
improved quality of health services and increased availability of resources for
public sector health services. Key aims of the program are reduction in HIV
infections, total fertility, maternal and child mortality, malnutrition,
malaria and tuberculosis (TB).
Job Summary: The Chief of
Party will provide strategic vision, leadership qualities, technical expertise
and management experience to fulfill the USAID project’s management
requirements. The Chief of Party (COP) will be responsible for 1) assuring that
all assistance provided is technically sound and appropriate for the needs to
be addressed and 2) adequately managing and supervising the work of all
organizations and individuals engaged under the project. The COP will be
expected to play a leading and substantive role in developing and implementing
all activities; s/he shall be the lead person for Cardno in liaising with
USAID, government counterparts, and other stakeholders to exchange information
and develop professional relationships. The COP will also manage the technical
teams, ensuring coordination of goals and efforts across the entire project
effort.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

The ideal candidate for the USAID Chief of Party
vacancy should hold an advanced degree in public health, medicine, social
development, business administration or relevant field
·
A minimum of ten years of mid to senior level
project management experience – prior Chief of Party or similar level position
experience is necessary
·
Prior experience in Uganda and/or East Africa region
leading implementation of large donor-funded health programs
·
Ability to build team capacity and delegate
authority effectively
·
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
·
Fluency in both written and spoken English
