Organisation: Uganda Prisons ServiceDuty Station:  Kampala, UgandaReports to: Officer In-Charge of a Prisons FarmThe Secretary, Prisons Authority invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens to fill vacant posts of Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Prisons currently existing in the Uganda Prisons Service as specified below:-Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Drafting and drawing operational plans for prisons farms.Coordinating crop husbandry activities on prisons farmsConducting project planning, monitoring and evaluation of agricultural activities.Working in liaison with other related organizations: e.g. NARO, NFA, District Agricultural Institutes on Agricultural related activities.Submitting annual quarterly and monthly reports on agricultural activities.Identifying agricultural inputs and implements.Supervising and appraising subordinate staff.Working out a comprehensive agricultural rehabilitation programmes for inmates.Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  All suitably qualified Ugandans must possess an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture (Crop option) a recognized University or Institution.All applications should be filled in triplicate on Public Service Form No. 3 (2008) and submitted to the Secretary, Prisons Authority, P. 0. Box 7182, Kampala, Uganda The hand written applications are also acceptable.The application forms are obtainable from the Public Service Commission offices, Farmers’ House, 2nd floor, Kampala and Prisons Authority offices, at the Uganda Prisons Headquarters, Plot 13/15 Parliament Avenue. The Forms can also be downloaded from the Public Service Commission Website on www.psc.go.ug.All applications should bear the title of the post as well as the Reference Number specified against the vacancy. Applicants should attach three (3) sets of photocopies of their certificates and testimonials plus three (3) recent certified passport size photographs.Applicants who are already in Government Service should route their applications through their Heads of Department who must be informed of the closing date to avoid delay.Applicants should be physically and medically fit and should not have been charged with any criminal offence in any courts of law. The applicants must have the right attitude and be willing to work in difficult conditions and environment.In addition, successful candidates must be prepared to undergo a twelve (12) months Cadet Officers’ Course at the Prisons Training School and Staff College plus three (3) months attachment. Appointment as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Prisons will only be effective after successful completion of training and pass-out.
