The UNDP provides expert advice, training, grant support to developing countries including Uganda with increasing emphasis on assistance to the least developed countries. Job Summary: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Receptionist will primarily serve as a liaison between the staff and external counterparts by properly handling incoming and outgoing calls and receiving, screening, and guiding visitors. The incumbent will be providing services to all UN agencies co-located in the shared premises and will be required to be equally responsive to their needs. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Quickly respond to all incoming calls and transfer them to the relevant staff members and make outgoing calls upon request by staff members;Receive and transmit verbal and written messages to relevant staff members;Receive, screen, and assist visitors by giving them direction and/of information;Render support with registry tasks and keep close collaboration with the Assistant in charge of the Registry;Assist with scheduling of appointments.Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:The best candidate should have attained prior training as a Receptionist and/or Secretary or Customer care or Personal Assistant. At least three years of relevant experience;Past work experience with any international organization or Diplomatic Mission is an asset.Fluency in both spoken and written English;Knowledge of the Local Language is an asset.Demonstrate and safeguard ethics and integrity;Excellent interpersonal skills;Demonstrate corporate knowledge and sound judgment;Ability to work in multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.Communication and Information Sharing:Excellent communication skills;Facilitate and encourage open communication and strive for effective communication.Self-management and Emotional Intelligence: Stay composed and positive even in difficult moments, handle tense situations with diplomacy and tact, and have a consistent behavior towards others.Continuous Learning and Knowledge Sharing:Encourage learning and sharing of knowledge;Sound knowledge and practice of secretarial functions.If you believe you are one of the ideal candidates for this opportunity in working with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), then visit the web link below for full job details and How to Apply.NB: UNDP is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
