Send your request to employment-germany@state.gov with identification of vacancy number.)Incumbent is responsible for implementing and managing the Consulate’s multimedia and social media strategy. The Coordinator consults with originating offices from the early planning of their activities in order to understand the characteristics and goals of each activity and to visualize how new media content could enhance its effectiveness. The  Coordinator plans, produces, formats, places, and markets new media content of an array of platforms, based on target audience and topic. As such, s/he applies principles of graphic design, video editing, marketing, and online community engagement to maximize the impact of Consulate programming.As the new media environment expands and evolves, the Coordinator is required to stay fully abreast of developing technologies, demographic profiles of new media users, and “best practices” for engagement on the most important new media platforms. In addition, s/he must develop and serve as an advisor for an active, state-of –the-art outreach  operation for all Public Affairs activities on the web. Provides training to colleagues on the characteristics and potential of new media technologies. Incumbent also manages Post’s Information Resource Center services, in coordination with the Consul General and Embassy Berlin.All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific information supporting each item. EDUCATION: Three years of full-time study with a degree in graphic design, digital media, political science, international affairs, marketing, communication or American studies is required.2011-03-07 HR-RE-002 Employment OpportunityEXPERIENCE: Two years of professional experience in a field involving public outreach, marketing, or the development and communication of messages designed to achieve strategic goals, with experience in applying new media technologies are required. These technologies include web site management, social media community management, graphic design, video editing and production, and/or desktop publishing is required. LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluency) English and German is required. (speak/write and read).•Must have knowledge of the United States and Germany, including strong familiarity with culture, history, institutions and government• Must be familiar with the German information environment and the most current online / social media trends and usage. • Must possess specialized knowledge in design and development of digital media and be able to apply these principles to electronic, audiovisual and print media when required. • Expert knowledge of the hardware, software, online platforms used in multimedia design, production, publication and promotion are required.• Must have a valid German class B driver’s license.
