Uganda: Sexual Violence Research Consultancy
Introduction:
This particular research paper is part of a project that being implemented to address the massive gap in prevention and response to sexual violence in Sudan. The research will focus on the dynamics and the divers to sexual violence against women and girls in the North Darfur (Al-Fashir town and Aboushouk and Alsalam IDP camps) as well as the drivers of sexual violence in and around Greater Khartoum.
This research should be well written, focused, and compiled considering the voices of a variety of key actors. The SIHA team (both Khartoum and Kampala) will be highly involved in challenging and amending the analyses and the recommendations as well as the type of discourse the study presented. Ultimately the paper should be accessible and targeted towards a broad consistency towards fighting rape and impunity in Sudan, usable at both the local and international levels.
Objectives:
The overall goal of this paper is to open the conversation around the issue of adult women and teen girls and to discuss and analyze the dynamics and drivers of rape in Sudan. The paper must also discuss the concepts/Sudan-centred institutions, legislation, etc. that drive persecution of women victims of rape, criminalizing victims and empowering/enabling perpetrators. The paper will be used as advocacy and awareness tool against rape and other forms of sexual violence in Sudan.
Location: Kamapala, with travel to Sudan
Duration: 20 November 2014 to 20 February 2015
