BA programmes in Uganda focus on income improvement and support to education with cross-cutting themes in livelihoods, HIV/AIDS and gender. Build Africa Uganda (BAU) currently works in the districts of Kumi, Ngora, Paliisa, Kibuku, Bugiri, Oyam, Bukedea, Masindi, Kiryandongo and Buliisa.BAU seeks an external consultant(s) or an agency with whom to collaborate in the design and delivery of the one-day team building programme for up to 22 staff and 5 volunteers, 11 female and 16 male. The exercise aims at bringing together the team members from all offices and strengthening team cohesion, spirit, and ability to think and act together. BAU has had a number of staff changes with number of new members joining, hence the need to further strengthen the team.

****Expected Output****

It is important to note that one full day will be dedicated for team building activities only. There will be no discussion of any programmatic or operational issues. The team building activities will focus on the following objectives:

Knowing each otherWorking together (with a special focus on working together from two remote locations)Trusting each otherUnderstanding cultural sensitivitiesRespecting each other

****Recruitment of a consultant****

The selected consultant(s) or an agency will assist in the design, preparation and facilitation of the team building retreat as well as compiling a report outlining the workshop's proceedings, including practical recommendations and operational tools which can be used by the team in the future.

Key tasks

Consultant(s)/agency will complete the following tasks, in close consultation with BAU:

Review of all relevant documentation pertaining to BAU teamDraft the agenda for the one-day team building exerciseDesign and develop team building content of the retreat and related activitiesPresent interactive and flexible facilitation tools and material aids for brainstorming prepared prior to the workshopFacilitate the retreat on 18th December 2014.

The team building exercise should be creatively organized to include strategic brainstorming sessions aimed at helping the personnel develop and articulate corporate and individual understanding oneself and their collegues in order to achieve the retreat’s goals.

Consultants profileExperienced (10-15 years) management or people’s development consultant or agencyProven track record of facilitating team building and knowledge sharing workshops and consultancy experience.Payments, budget and reporting

The contractor will be paid a lump sum in one installment at the end of the assignment.

The consultant will be required to submit both a technical and financial proposal to Build Africa Uganda (see address given below). The technical proposal should cover:-

Experience of individual / firm in relation to the team buildingUnderstanding (definition) of the purpose of the team buildingMethodologyActivity schedule (work plan).
