Uganda: Engineering Supervisor - Kitgum, Uganda

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent humanitarian organization working to provide durable solutions and promote human security.
In Uganda, DRC works in north, north-western, south-western and north-eastern regions in a range of emergency/development support for the communities in need with the aim of saving lives and creating livelihoods (for more information go to www.drc.dk).
General Objective The Engineering Supervisor’s primary function is to oversee technical designs including: development of BOQs and management of infrastructure works in the Acholi Sub – Region. He/She will be responsible for Quality Assurance of infrastructure works and its components. He/She will ensure that technical specifications for all infrastructure works are in line with DRC’s Infrastructure Manual.
Specific tasks and responsibilities
The Engineering Supervisor will perform the following tasks:
Qualifications and qualities
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized University or Institution.At least 5 years of relevant work experience in labor based construction technology (cash for work interventions).Ability to provide technical leadership in the field of infrastructure engineering.A strong team player and ability to work well with minimal supervision.Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people.Ability and flexibility to travel within the Acholi Sub – Region.Computer literacy – proficiency in Excel and AutoCAD Program is preferable.Fluency in Acholi an added advantage.Conditions for the positions
The position is contract based.Remuneration and benefits are as per DRC Uganda standard salary scale and benefit package.Expected start date: 5th January 2015
