Job Summary: The Head of Trade (H.O.T), Uganda will

provide leadership through planning, objective setting, implementation,

evaluation, control and management of both internal and external stakeholders.

He/she will take full ownership of infrastructure & processes aimed at

Trade Marketing and Distribution (TM&D) Excellence within Uganda. The Head

of Trade will significantly contribute to the overall marketing strategy and

plan by integrating the brand & consumer segment strategies into the

TM&D strategy with an overall objective of driving GROWTH in commercial

(volume & profit) results (short and long term) and maintain alignment with

the overall marketing strategy.


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • With

    the objective of Growth , the H.O.T is responsible for driving sustainable

    volume and value growth through optimizing TM&D fundamentals (i.e.

    availability, visibility, merchandising, pricing, product freshness and

    out of stock).

  • Proactively

    supporting the Productivity, Sustainability and Winning Organization

    initiatives by ensuring that the entire Uganda marketing team is aligned

    and embeds the desired behavior.

  • Supporting

    the assigned Distributor(s) to achieve volume and distribution targets in

    order to maximize brand availability and visibility, through the execution

    of essential Trade and Consumer Marketing activities.

  • Actively

    facilitating people development agenda through both on-the-job and

    off-the-job training to ensure that sufficient succession planning is

    available.

  • Responsible

    for driving enthusiasm, change, motivation and passion to build a winning

    organization.

  • Leveraging

    the leadership position of BAT to gain competitive advantage amongst

    tobacco companies and other FMCG companies in line with Corporate and

    Regulatory Affairs guidelines and BAT marketing principles.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The

    ideal candidate should hold a Business degree in Business

    Administration/Marketing, MBA or any other relevant qualifications

  • A

    minimum of six or more years’ experience in a multinational and/or FMCG

    category.

  • Good

    knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain & excise/duty regimes.

  • Understanding

    of Marketing Research tools and information analysis.

  • Possess

    the ability to engage with high level internal & external

    partners/stakeholders.

  • Proven

    people leadership skills with ability to motivate and energizes team.
