UNHCO is a Non-Governmental Organization formed in 1999 whose main goal
is to improve the quality of life of all people in Uganda through a
rights-based approach. UNHCO has received funding from Sida through the Swedish
Embassy in Kampala for the 2nd phase of the Maternal Health Project (MHP) which
is being implemented in 8 districts. The goal of the project is to contribute
to the reduction of maternal and newborn mortality in Uganda.
Job Summary: The
Monitoring and Evaluation Project Assistant will support the M & E Manager
in routine data collection and ensure that entry, quality assurance and follow
up with Implementing Partners for submission in complete data sets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively support MHP monitoring and
evaluation tasks (planning, coordination of monitoring activities,
training of staff, data collection, cleaning and analysis). - Ensure that the work plans have proper targets and they are
monitored during implementation. - Work under the guidance of the M&E
Manager to ensure adherence to the project M&E framework. - Support on-going data collection, analysis
and self-verification for project evaluation purposes. - Collate and enter routine data and clean
it in time for analysis and reporting. - Routinely follow-up decisions related to
M&E to field level and provide relevant support to improve
performance. - Support training for MHP staff as required
on data collection and monitoring as required. - Ensure that there is information for
quarterly, semi-annual and annual programmatic performance reports - Receive and sort data from IPs and
systematically file it for easy retrieval. - Provide data for resource mobilisation
efforts - Perform any other related functions as
need may arise from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Monitoring and Evaluation Project
Assistant should hold a degree in Statistics, Development
Studies/humanities or other relevant field. Additional training in M&E
is a must. - A minimum of two or more years’ experience
in M&E, preferably with health related organisations or programs and
with multiple implementing partners. - Possess excellent research and analysis
skills, facilitation skills, including experience in leading capacity building
efforts; - Working knowledge of various data
management software especially Epidata, Epinfo, SPSS, excel, access and
STATA; - Advanced writing and computer skills for
documenting project activities; - Familiarity with quality improvement is an
asset; - Willingness to travel frequently to the
field to remote areas in Uganda, j assertive and diplomatic.
