Location: Masaka, Uganda

GECC strives to improve global health by improving access to quality emergency care in the deve
loping world, through developing sustainable, scalable, locally derived emergency care training programs, and collaborating with local and national organizations to create horizontal emergency care health systems.
Program Director Job Description:
As the on-site administrator, the Program Director (PD) will work side-by-side with local leaders to ensure proper oversight of the Emergency Care Practitioner Training Program. Through cooperation with the Education Director, the PD will ensure that each trainee attends all lectures and completes all course requirements, including tests and quizzes, case presentations and procedure logs. The PD will also be responsible for ensuring that all lecturers have practiced their lectures and that all ECPs are fulfilling their academic, educational and medical responsibilities. The PD will also work closely with the Emergency Department ward in-charge and other senior staff members to facilitate effective problem solving and coordination of resources to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the Emergency Department, and to encourage regular meetings to address problems that arise. Last, the PD will be responsible for training and oversight of all Research Assistants, visiting physicians and other volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Discussion between GECCs Executive Committee and the Hospital Administration
- Liaise with the Ministry of Health, regional universities and potential collaborators as the ‘face’ of GECC
- Greet, organize and manage incoming research assistants, medical residents, nurses and physicians
- Document on-site finances, monitor program spending and record monthly expense reports
- Ensure day-to-day operation of the ECP training program (including lectures, tests, quizzes, simulations, CMEs, ED scheduling, performance reviews and research responsibilities)
Qualifications & Characteristics:
- Competent with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience working with teams of health professionals in culturally sensitive settings
- Interest in Education, healthcare and international development
- Ability to work flexibly with various personalities
- Experience with data gathering, analysis, encryption and dissemination
- Independent, self-motivated and eager to learn
- The desire to work internationally for an organization dedicated to improving global health
