training, grant support to developing countries including Uganda with

increasing emphasis on assistance to the least developed countries.


As a GEF Implementing Agency, UNDP offers countries highly specialized

support services for programme/project implementation. UNDP-GEF’s Green,

Low-emission, Climate-resilient Development Strategies team works to support

countries to attract and direct public and private investment towards

catalyzing and supporting sustainable economic growth through initiatives

focused on integrated Climate Change Strategies, Advancing Cross-sectoral

Climate Resilient Livelihoods and Strengthening Climate Information and

addressing barriers to Climate Resilient Development.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures the provision of reliable and

    secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of

    authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and

    other items and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport,

    visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.

  • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of

    vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of

    inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of

    the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major

    repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.

  • Ensure availability of all the required

    documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office

    directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare

    parts.

  • Ensure that all immediate actions required

    by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidates for the United

    Nations Driver Jobs must have completed Secondary Education. Possess Valid

    Driver’s license. 

  • At least two years’ work experience as a

    driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations

    and skills in minor vehicle repair.

  • Language

    and IT Skills:
    Good written and fluent spoken English

  • Demonstrates high level integrity by

    modelling the UN’s values and ethical standards;

  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race,

    nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability;

  • Treats all people fairly without

    favouritism.

  • Ability to identify car faults and carry

    out critical assessments well in time;

  • In-depth practical knowledge of car

    operating units;

  • Actively works towards ensuring that the

    team achieves the targeted objectives;

  • Seeks and applies knowledge, information,

    and best practices from within and outside of the organisation.


Management and Leadership

  • Builds strong relationships with team

    members and responds positively to feedback;

  • Consistently approaches work with energy

    and a positive, constructive attitude;

  • Demonstrates openness to change and

    ability to manage complexities ;

  • Ability to contribute to effective

    conflicts resolution;

    skills;

    including Government, donors and civil society;

  • Remains calm, in control and good humoured

    even under pressure;

  • Proven networking, team-building,

    organizational and communication skills.
