Volunteer Grant Writer/Programme Developer, Fluent in English
Based in Fort Portal, in the Kabarole District of western Uganda, Kyaninga Child Development Centre (KCDC) was established to provide much needed high quality, specialised and affordable assessment, treatment, education and support to children with disabilities, and their families and carers, to enable them to lead more independent lives.
Due to the high demand for their services, KCDC is currently offering a volunteer placement for an experienced grant writer and programme developer to help raise funds and expand the current program scope across the western region of Uganda, in areas of health, rehabilitation and education. The position includes researching, compiling, writing and editing grant applications to foundations and other grant-making organisations, as well as developing templates to streamline the grant proposal processes in the future. The volunteer will need to be capable of initiating sustainable projects whilst at the same time sourcing appropriate funding. These projects should serve to compliment the current areas of work and, where possible, build upon them to increase the scope and breadth of the area of implementation.
Personal Specification:
Essential:
· Excellent online research skills
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate to a variety of audiences
· Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines – highly organized
· Willingness to work with limited resources
· Hard working and dedicated
· Empathy and high commitment to KCDC’s mission and organizational values
Desirable:
· Experience working for an NGO is desirable, but not mandatory
· Fundraising experience
· Willing to commit to a minimum of 6 months full time
