The AIDS Support

Organization (TASO Uganda) is an organisation contributing to a process of

preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of Life of

persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease.


Job Summary:  The Client Relations Officer will mainly provide

effective management of Day Centre activities geared towards the welfare of

TASO clients, including children


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • Actively participate in the compilation of annual work plans and

    budgets for Day Centre activities

  • Link clients to support groups

  • Manage clients’ involvement in HIV/AIDS education and

    sensitization

  • Ensure adherence of clients to the clients’ code of conduct

  • Actively support and supervise TASO Drama Group activities

  • Represent clients’ views at appropriate forums, and follow up

    client complaints and suggestions.

  • Offer support and information to clients as required

  • Provide information to the psychosocial services coordinator on

    resources required for the Day Centre activities.

  • Ensure the effective utilization of resources for the Day Centre

    activities.

  • Prepare and submit reports as required

  • Offer technical support to counselling department as allocated by

    supervisor

  • Orient of clients to TASO center services & procedures

  • Keenly attend to weak clients

  • Supervise the serving of tea to clients

  • Conduct health talks

  • Monitor clients’ waiting time while at the center

  • Organize for the provision of tea and drinking water

  • Support in serving of meals for children while at the clinic

  • Follow up clients admitted in the wards and inform the respective

    counselors

  • Provide peer counseling to clients

  • Visit CDDPs to offer peer support to client

  • Ensure clients registration on clinic days and receipting and

    account for user fee.

  • Support clients who are stranded i.e don’t know where to go or

    have no support like transport back home

  • Make a work plan for drama activities both adults and adolescents

  • Monitor drama HIV sensitizations

  • Regularly review outputs presented by drama group

  • Proper documentation of work done

  • Organize quarterly clients council meetings

  • Organize general clients meetings

  • Encourage clients to raise their concerns  by utilizing various provisions such as

    suggestion boxes

  • Share/disseminate information to clients regarding their rights

    and obligations

  • Orient drama members on drama policy

  • Develop work plans

  • Make monthly roster for clients council activities

  • Organize drama meetings

  • Encourage clients to form groups

  • Write fundable proposals at TASO units

  • Provide support to expert clients (mentor mother, client

    representatives, CASA, peer educators as directed by supervisor

  • Manage the selection of clients for skills building

  • Monitor skills building training

  • Monitor performance of drama instructor

  • Support in establishment and maintenance of kitchen gardens at the

    center


Key Performance

Indicators:

  • Clients’ welfare provided

  • HIV/AIDS education and sensitisation organized

  • Clients’ views presented to TASO management

  • Plans and budgets for section drafted


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 
     

  • The Client Relations Officer should hold a Degree in SWASA,

    Education, Social Sciences, Arts or Development Studies

  • Additional HIV/AIDS Counselling, including Child Counselling is

    required

  • At least two years’ experience in HIV/AIDS support work

  • Working knowledge of Rights of PLWHAs and Basic facts on HIV/AIDS

    Care

  • Communication skills, Customer Care, Computer skills and

    Interpersonal skills
