About Ni-Yetu Youth Programme:


Ni-Yetu Youth Program is a program which integrates promotion of Youth

Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and prevention of Gender Based Violence

among young people which is going to be implemented in five districts of

Tororo, Kamuli, Lira, Alebtong and Kampala for three and half years. Plan

International Uganda with funding from SIDA will engage national and local CSOs

to implement this program. Ni-Yetu is a Swahili word which literally stands for

‘it is ours’ and has been carefully selected by the youth representatives to

demonstrate youth identification and ownership for the program. The program

seeks to empower young people to demand for and fulfil their rights in a

participatory and inclusive manner that also recognizes and actively engages

with CSOs, key public sector agencies at various levels as well as relevant

community-level actors.


Job Summary: The Learning and Knowledge Management Coordinator

will manage the research, monitoring, evaluation, documentation and learning

components of the project. He/she will build capacity of Plan and partner staff

in documenting replicable models that enhance learning. She/he will lead the

development of the project M&E tools, checklists including supporting the

project manager/project coordinator to produce quality reports. He will take

lead in documentation of project progress and change realized through

conduction of routine monitoring, collection of most significant change stories

on project implementation following established guidelines, as well as

conducting of audits and verification of project data. The incumbent will also

be tasked with identification of learning models in the Ni-Yetu Project that

can be replicated


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Technically support consistent and quality

    monitoring and documentation of the project

  • Support project staff including partners

    in all monitoring and documentation related activities including utilization

    of the corporate M & E system in the partner organisations

  • Carry out basic training and coaching for

    staff and partners on participatory monitoring and documentation.

  • Develop indicators and monitoring formats

    and tools for Plan’s projects in the district and support programme staff

    to develop M&E section of project outlines (POs)

  • Works closely with and build the capacity

    of implementing partners and local CBO staff at local level on monitoring

    and documentation.

  • Actively coordinate research, project

    evaluations, organisational learning and documentation initiatives within

    the project and amongst partners

  • Write and edit documentation of reports on

    best practices, case studies, lessons learnt and reflection of the

    project.

  • Actively facilitate and document the

    quarterly project progress reviews as per agreed project reporting

  • Ensure Plan’s Child Protection Policy,

    research protocols, knowledge management and MER standards and Guidelines

    are adhered to in project implementation.

  • Works closely with the MER Manager to

    ensure adherence to Plan global and Uganda MER Frameworks


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should hold a degree

    in statistics, Social Science, Social Work, or any other related field.

    Additional training at post-graduate level in M&E is an added

    advantage

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in

    monitoring and documentation of projects preferably with International

    Non-Governmental Organization requirements in project implementation.

  • Assurance of efficient and effective

    delivery of the project

  • Skills in Monitoring and evaluation of

    rights-based programmes

  • Working knowledge of environment and

    current effective practice on monitoring & evaluation

  • Proven abilities in planning and

    coordination

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the

    ability to work with people from diverse cultures

  • Ability to lead and motivate people to

    work in teams

  • Excellent communication skills, both in

    written English and in face-to-face presentations

  • Computers skills in MS Office, Analysis

    packages such as EPI-info, SSP, and Internet browsing.

  • Skills in design of ACCESS Database and/or

    advanced Excel
