Nile Breweries Limited is a leading beverage company in Uganda and a
subsidiary of SABMiller, the second largest brewing group in the world. Nile
Breweries Limited is the producer of Nile Special, Club Pilsener, Eagle Lager,
Eagle Extra, Eagle Dark, Nile Gold, Castle Milk Stout, Redd’s, Redd’s Vodka
Lemon, Castle Lite, Chairman’s ESB, Chibuku and our new brand Hero. NBL imports
and distributes Castle Lager and Grolsch in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enforce compliance of safety, health and
environmental standards by all employees and contractors, and carryout follow
up of outstanding actions from all safety representatives monthly
inspection reports. - Enforce the right culture of zero tolerance
to safety and environmental health malpractices - Apply the manufacturing way principles and
practices - The duty holder will facilitate problem
solving in his / her docket - Oversight of landscape and waste disposal
contractors and ensure proper disposal of solid waste to land fill site
and effluent disposal - Conduct training of employees in safety,
and environmental health in liaison with the training department. - Conduct incident/accidents investigations
record and submit timely investigations reports to management. - Responsible for the implementation of
company health and safety, environmental standards and compilation of
Environmental Health and Safety (ESH) manual to NOSA 5 star Standard. - Ensure that all teams have required level
of health and safety, environmental competence in liaison with the
training department/other departments. - Actively monitor health and safety and
environmental performance and to achieve best practice - Carry out health and safety, environmental
internal audits on site using the NOSA SHE integrated system/ NOSA audit
manager software .produce audit reports for distribution to key players
for action. - Work closely with the regulatory and
enforcement bodies on health and safety, environment matters. - Ensure compliance by all contractor s to
company safety regulations and standards. - Work in liaison with company Doctor in all
matters concerning occupational health. - Responsible for the implementation of company
emergency plan. - Identify and assess fire risks and
recommend correct type of firefighting equipment for purchase, keep and
maintain update fire equipment register. - Ensure proper functioning of the emergency
alarm system, proper identification of fire teams, first aiders, safety
representatives, and service inspectors and carry out training of fire
teams /first aiders and annual fire drills in liaison with Securicor, and
Police Fire Brigade , training department, and emergency services
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Environment,
Health and Safety Coordinator should hold a Bachelors of Science in
Engineering or Industrial Chemistry or its Equivalent - Hold a NOSA license and an OSH certificate
- At least two years’ experience in
Environmental Health and Safety works. - High degree of integrity and attention to
detail - High energy, balanced personality
self-discipline and drive, conceptualizing and innovative thinking, goal
orientation and a strong output bias. - Highly proactive mindset, self-driven, self-starter
and with initiative; - Excellent communication skills
- Go getter attitude
- Computer literacy – Auto card skills,
Word, PowerPoint and Excel is an added advantage - Strong leadership potential demonstrated
- Bias for action
- Initiative and self-managing
- Highly elf-motivated
- Good team player
- Proactive and analytical problem solver
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Keen attention to detail.
