Background Information:


Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), set up under the investment Code 1991 is a statutory agency mandated to initiate and support measures that enhance investment in Uganda and to advise Government on appropriate policies conducive for investment promotion and growth.


Job Title: Physical Planner (1 post)


Reporting to: Director, Land Development Division


Duty Station: Kampala Industrial & Business Park (KIBP)


Main Duties and Responsibilities.


• Prepare industrial park physical development plans (structure and detailed) and development guidelines.


• Study the provision of transportation networks, communication lines, water distribution, electricity and other utilities at each site within the industrial and business parks.


• Conduct site and location analysis studies to review all potential sites for the establishment of Industrial and Business parks.


• Participate in Environmental Impact Assessment studies and Implementing Earthworks for infrastructure development within the parks.


• Undertake physical development controls in the industrial parks to ensure that the developments are consistent with the approved physical development plans.


• Prepare terms of reference for physical development planning, feasibility, engineering services studies for industrial and Business sites.


• Develop appropriate land use zoning in the development of industrial and business parks countrywide and ensure that they are planned in conformity with existing national and local planning regulatory requirements.


• Carry out research on identifi ed physical planning issues and propose corrective action.


• Networking with relevant Physical planning authorities, institutions and other stakeholders.


Qualifications and experience


• A Bachelor’s degree in Physical /Urban Planning or land Economics or Land Management or the equivalent from a recognised institution


• A Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management, Urban design,Cartography or GIS Operation will be an added advantage


• 3 years working experience in Physical Planning in a reputable Institution.


• Affiliation to a Professional Urban/Physical planning body or the equivalent.


• Strong Computer skills in Arc GIS, AutoCAD, Database management and MS Project;


Job Title: Senior Investment Executive –Research (One post)


Division: Office of the Executive Director.


Reporting to: Executive Director


Main duties and responsibilities


• Review national economic parameters and guide institution on the implication on investment.


• Research on businesses in Uganda and determine parameters that impede investment and the business climate.


• Prepare annual and quarterly investment reports including reviews of project conversion ratios.


• Carry out quarterly and annual evaluation surveys of the one stop centre.


• Carry out information research needed to support investment promotion and facilitation & aftercare divisions (in conjunction with other division staff) by among others updating sector profi les and other investment publications.


• Facilitate production of internal and external reports and any other reports targeted at UIA stakeholders (analyse and communicate performance results and provide investment information.


• Carry out research to support specifi c policy positions relevant to investors by keeping abreast of outside research and studies and also preparing position papers to stakeholders.


• Prepare research proposals for funding research needs of the institution and stakeholders.


Person Specification


• Masters Degree in Economics, Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Economic Policy Planning or Management or the equivalent from a recognised Institution


• Bachelors’ degree in Economics or the equivalent from a recognised Institution


• Five years working experience conducting research studies in a Private sector or Government Institutions


• Strong Computer skills in MS Excel and SPSS;


Job Title: Investment Executive (1 post)


Division: Investment Facilitation and Aftercare.


Reporting to: Deputy Director, Investment Facilitation and Aftercare


Main duties and responsibilities


• Appraise investment license applications submitted to UIA


• Monitor licensed projects within the allocated sectors to ascertain their actual


investment, employment levels and any other related investment issues.


• Mobilize and sensitize unlicensed investors.


• Handle all facilitation inquiries from licensed investors.


• Provide aftercare care services to existing investors


• Participate in the Private Sector Investor Surveys and any other related surveys


• Organize and follow up on issues arising from the Presidential Investors Roundtable (PIRT) Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings


Person Specification


a) Bachelors’ degree in Economics, Commerce, Statistics or International Business or BBA or the equivalent from a recognised Institution


b) Three years working experience in a Private sector or Government Institutions
