Together with our partners, we are helping managers and leaders in developing countries to create stronger management systems that improve health services for the greatest health impact.  USAID funded Uganda Systems Strengthening for Health Commodities is a five year program supporting the Government of Uganda’s health system to improve the availability and accessibility of essential medicines and health supplies (EMHS).The expected results of are to:1) strengthen national policies and strategies and support cost-effective, equitable, and transparent utilization of EMHS resources; 2) strengthen country capacity for effective management and utilization of EMHS; and 3) increase availability and access of EMHS among priority populations. Job Summary: The Senior Programmer Business Intelligence (BI) Software is responsible for the expansion of the DSDS (District Supervision Data System) into the PIP (Pharmaceutical Information Portal) datawarehouse and portal in collaboration with the Senior Programmer Sharepoint/.NET and the Senior Technical Advisor, PIP. The Senior Programmer, BI will architect, design, build, implement, support, test, and maintain extract, transform and load processes, reporting modules, and analysis/dashboard solutions. S/he will take part in the design of the dimensional models. Key Duties and Responsibilities:  In charge of collecting and analyzing end-user Bl requirements and evaluate the feasibility of these requirements from a technical perspective.Work in liaison with report requestors to clarify needs and ensure that deliverables are to their specifications and delivered in a timely manner.Perform conceptual, logical, physical, and multidimensional data modelingIdentify data discrepancies and data quality issues and work to ensure data consistency and integrityDevelop and maintain SSIS Extract, Transform, and Load processes across multiple data sourcesDesign, develop and distribute reports (standard and ad-hoc) and dashboards from different data sourcesDesign, develop and implement data management and data analytics solutionsOptimize the OLAP and data-mining performance functions.Actively monitor system details within the data warehouse including stored procedures and execution time and implement efficiency improvementsQuickly respond to and resolve load failures and performance issues Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The candidate must hold a Master’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or a related field, or a BSc plus MSc-equivalent working experience Ten or more years’ experience with demonstrated skills in software development and maintenance At least six years ETL development experience in a SQL Server environment with at least 3 years of SSIS specific experience Six or more years reporting development experience in a SQL Server environment with a three years SSRS/Report Builder experience Three or more years OLAP and cube development experience with SSAS or similar tools Professional MCSE Business Intelligence and MCSE Data Platform certifications are an added advantage Strong Microsoft SQL Server skills Strong TSQL skills Comprehensive knowledge of dimensional modelling Good working knowledge of PerformancePoint, PowerPivot and SharePoint is an added advantage Excellent analytical, problem solving, collaboration and technical skills Highly proficient in creating written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support Keen attention to detail and commitment to high quality/error free deliverables.
