Reports to: AAH-I Executive Director and AAH Uganda Board Chairman
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
AAH-I is an African-led non-profit making agency that implements health and development projects in Africa. AAH-I seeks to recruit a visionary, dynamic, innovative, senior development leader and manager for the position of Country Director for its program in Uganda. The position will be based in AAH-I‘s Kampala Office.
The Country Director has overall responsibility for AAH-I programs and operations in Uganda, and represents AAH-I with the Government, donors, partners, among other key stakeholders to foster a supportive environment for AAH-I’s work. He/she directs and supervises programs, ensuring that they are planned, implemented and coordinated within the overall AAH-I program strategy and donor guidelines. He/she is responsible for mobilizing resources for the country programs and ensures prudent management of the resources to achieve the desired results. The Country Director leads and supervises a staff of over 200 employees working in different parts of the country. He/she is responsible for further growing the AAH Uganda country program and expanding its funding sources.
Required Qualifications:
? Master’s degree in the social sciences with significant experience in public health and project development and management;
? Proven track record of leadership, with at least 10 years progressive senior management experience supervising complex programs funded by major multilateral or bilateral donor agencies;
? Demonstrated field leadership in strategic program and project development, implementation, and evaluation;
? Proven track record in resource mobilization;
? Commitment to promote the organization’s Vision, Mission and its strategic goals;
? Inspiring leadership with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
? Excellent diplomatic skills and ability to create positive relations with senior government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations, NGOs and CBOs to enhance the organization, country programmes;
? Experience with financial management and compliance with donor requirements;
? Entrepreneurial orientation, self-starter able to work independently and cope with demanding work situation.
