Chemonics seeks an operations manager for the anticipated USAID-funded Youth Leadership for Agriculture project in Uganda. The five-year, $21-million project aims to increase incomes of youth working in agricultural commodities and strengthen the skills obtained through formal and nonformal education and training in 38 of Uganda’s Feed the Future focus districts. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.


Responsibilities include:


  • Provide supervision and guidance of all operational activities of the project, including ensuring compliance with Chemonics’ best practices and establishing and supporting operations management systems

  • Participate in key program planning and management activities, and with chief of party ensure implementation of work plan and delivery of project deliverables to the client

  • Oversee project office’s procurement, inventory, training and event planning, travel and vehicles, and financial payments

  • Oversee the project’s grants program and provide support to USAID’s direct grants as requested

  • Ensure contractual compliance of project activities with USAID regulations and Chemonics’ policies

Qualifications:


  • Minimum five years of relevant operations and project management experience

  • Experience managing grants preferred

  • Proven ability to mentor, supervise, and support staff, and experience managing locally hired personnel

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity

  • English fluency required
