Reports

The Government of The Republic of Uganda
has received funds from Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA),
Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), OPEC Fund for International Development
(OFID) and the Government of Uganda for rehabilitation and expansion of Kayunga
and Yumbe Hospitals. The project objective is to deliver the Uganda National
Minimum Health Care Package (UNMHCP), through improvement of Health
Infrastructure.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In
charge of the day-to-day monitoring of workmanship, materials, and work
methods by Project Contractors to ensure adherence to Drawings,
Specification and Health & Safety requirements - Work
closely with the Project Consultants, provide the contractor with the
technical back up to assist in resolving queries arising on site, identify
and suggest solutions to problems to ensure that work proceeds in an
effective manner - The
incumbent will work in close consultation with the Project Engineer,
Consultants and Contractors in the review and interpretation of Designs,
Drawings and Technical Specifications ensuring that any discrepancies are
dealt with in good time. - Ensure
accuracy of work and materials on site, including taking samples of
materials such as concrete test cubes and carefully observing test
procedures of the contractor - Ensure
that the materials and workmanship approved by the Project Consultants
meet the contract requirements and notify the Project Supervising Engineer
of unsafe working practices - Attend
all site meetings for the Project Works and submit written progress
reports every two weeks - The
incumbent will maintain a diary to record the progress of construction,
weather conditions, site visitors, and other significant facts - Take
measurements and any records to assist in valuation and management of the
works - Support
the Project Supervising Engineer in the review of the Bills of Quantities
for the Works - Performs
any other duties as assigned by the Project Supervising Engineer.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicants for the Assistant Site Engineer vacancies should hold a Bachelor’s
Degree or equivalent in either Civil /building Engineering or Architecture
or Quantity Surveying or Construction from a recognised University. Holders
of the relevant National Higher (Advanced) Diploma with wide experience
may also apply. - At
least one year’s experience in building construction site supervision. - Computer
literacy skills - Excellent
communication skills, high integrity, excellent interpersonal relations
and good time management skills
