ZOA is an International
Non-Governmental ‘Organisation working in Uganda since 1998. Its mission is to
assist in rebuilding the livelihoods of peoples who are affected by human
conflict or natural disaster. We operate in 15 countries in Africa and Asia.
Our community based programme in Uganda concentrates on Food Security,
Livelihoods/Economic Development, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Vocational
Training, Education and Peace Building and is implemented in close cooperation
with local organizations and local government.
In 2015, ZOA started a
multi-year Land Security and Economic Development project in Nwoya district,
this is intended to be the first of several projects.
Job Summary: The Coordinator Land Security will mainly be
responsible for conducting community sensitization and education on customary
tenure. The incumbent will mentor and supervise the Parish facilitators. S/he
will work closely with the ALC, DLB and other actors in facilitating customary
tenure registration, through the process of systematic, adjudication,
demarcation and registration of Land rights. The coordinator will work with ADR
actors including the Rwodi Kweri for dispute resolution using the family tree
approach. The coordinator will ensure that activities are planned, organized
and monitored following approved project plans.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The
incumbent will implement activities as described in the project proposal
based on ZOA’s country policy - Carries
out training needs assessments and develops trainings for ALCs, Rwodi
kweri in the project. - Organizes,
sensitizations, community meetings, radio talk shows road theatre troops
on customary tenure and land governance issues. - Ensures
the implementation and monitoring of the project in line with donor requirements - The
incumbent will regularly report on the project progress on a monthly
basis.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate should preferably hold a Degree or Diploma in Lands
Management Land economics, Geometries, Surveying, Physical planning. - A
minimum of four or more years’ experience in an INGO and Development
Sector. - Working
knowledge of the provisions of NLP and Land governance issues in Uganda - Excellent
communication, writing, negotiation and facilitation skills - Inventive,
creative and enthusiastic person (able to develop the best approach) - Good
computer skills: Ms Excel and Ms Word - Self
motivator, having the ability to work with limited supervision - Ability
to work in an innovative environment where plans are developed fast and
open for change - Ability
and skills to coordinate activities where communities are consulted
regularly - Able
to ride a motorcycle with a valid driving/riding license - Knowledge
of LUO language is essential.
