Fields of Life is a charitable
development organisation which is committed to sharing the Christian faith by
collaborating with local communities and churches in East Africa to bring about
positive change through the provision of quality education, clean water, health
promotion and other community based projects. It has supported establishment of
schools across East Africa. The supported schools have become the hub of Fields
of Life’s other programmes like quality education, child sponsorship, water
sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and Christian outreach.
Job Summary: The Human Resource Manager will be primarily responsible
for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human
resource function.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In
charge of planning, organizing and controlling all HR activities including
developing goals as well as maintain a human resources system that meets management
information needs. - Co-ordinate
the staff recruitment and selection process for all personnel including
temporary employees and volunteers; including, preparing and placing
vacancy notices; receiving applications and shortlisting of candidates, making
reference checks and verifying authenticity of credentials provided by
prospective employees - Develop,
recommend and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepare and
maintain handbook on policies and procedures - Overseeing
staff training and development activities in collaboration with relevant
Heads of Department and assigned training facilitators - Rewrite
job descriptions where necessary and monitor the human resource
performance to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within
organization. - Administer
staff benefit programs such as health insurance, pension plans, vacation,
sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance. - In
charge of organizing staff related meetings such as appointments and
review meetings, disciplinary, welfare and maintaining accurate records of
the same. - Responsible
for monitoring the payroll in
consultation with the Finance Manager including: compiling data relevant
for payroll e.g. new staff, exits,
disciplinary action, terminations to ensure that staff get salaries and
benefits that are contractually due to them - Establishes
and maintains personnel records and reports to conform to employment
regulations. - Performs
other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant should preferably hold a Degree in Human Resources Management or
any Social Science discipline with a postgraduate diploma in Human
Resources Management - A
minimum of three years’ experience in a dynamic human resources role - Past
communications experience is an added advantage - Detailed
knowledge and understanding of labor laws and statutory returns
