The African Centre for
Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims (ACTV) is a Non- Governmental organisation
in Uganda since 1993 whose mandate is to provide physical and psychological
treatment and rehabilitation including legal advice to survivors of torture as
well as to advocate against torture.
Job Summary: The Driver will support the Administration
Assistant through the provision of driving support in ACTV related business but
also ensure appropriate usage and maintenance of vehicles and compliance with organizational
procedures during implementation of program work.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The
incumbent drives program vehicles for ACTV related business. - Maintain
program vehicles, including Washing; fuelling; Servicing regularly; - In
charge of monitoring needed repairs; - Taking
vehicle to mechanic, as needed, for maintenance/repairs. - Sending
timely valid receipts for fuel and vehicle maintenance/repair. - In
charge of maintaining vehicle logbooks and submitting vehicle reports. - Knows
and abides by all Ugandan driving laws and regulations at all times. - Agrees
to and follows organizational vehicle and driving policies and procedures,
including - Project
vehicle use policy, - In
charge of adhering to driving rules and regulations. - Occasionally
assists program staff with project activities, for example helping count
participants at events. - Supports
ACTV program and operational staff with town running and completing
errands. - Demonstrates
transparency and accountability in all areas of work.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the ACTV Driver placement must possess an Ordinary Level
Certificate of Education. - At
least two years’ experience driving on all types of roads and various road
conditions found in Uganda (i.e. in towns, on highways, on murram roads,
through Kampala, in wet and dry seasons, etc). - Hold
a current, valid Uganda driver’s license - Possess
a clean and safe driving record - Preferred
prior experience working with a humanitarian or not-for profit
organization. - Mechanical
knowledge preferred.
