Dfcu bank is a fast growing
commercial bank offering a variety of innovative products and services. DFCU
Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the
United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development
Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda
Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International
Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25%
stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development
projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing
financial commercial lending institutions.
Job Summary: The Head of
Relationship Management will be in charge of managing a team of Relationship
Managers to grow new business and share of wallet across the portfolios managed
while maintaining existing client relationships. The incumbent will leverage, optimise
resources, business and operational risk and market potential to maximise
business growth, retention and profitability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Formulate,
drive, measure and manage the implementation of a Relationship Management-
performance strategy for the Bank’s target market to grow new business and
share of wallet across the relationships and portfolios managed while
maintaining the existing customers and promoting a quality portfolio. - Offer
technical support, promote, sell and structure a wide and diverse range of
financial solutions customised to best meet the financial needs of high
value commercial customers. - Ensure
the timely provision of excellent customer service, the delivery of
service standards and turnaround times within the Relationship Management
team together and in collaboration with internal business partners in line
with the commercial value proposition and customer retention requirements. - In
charge of preparing financial budgets and forecasts in line with strategic
objectives, business/operational risk, socio-political and economic market
forces implement and enforce the pricing matrix. - Proactively
manage and maintain a quality asset portfolio in line with the credit
policies and within the targeted portfolio at Risk ratios. - Regular
review and reporting on portfolio performance to ensure regular monitoring
and compliance - Keenly
track and manage the performance contribution of staff i.e.
objective/target setting, monitoring and evaluations within timely manner. - Steer
talent management amongst the team by creating and implementing a platform
for growth, mentoring and development - Perform
a strong coaching role and provide other training support to the
Relationship Management team within the department.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s degree in Business
Administration or equivalent - A minimum
of seven years’ experience with high value commercial clients in a commercial/
corporate banking environment - Strong
leadership and interpersonal skills (team player, good communication and
time management skills) - Good
credit analysis and due diligence skills - Exceptional
client relationship management skills - Detailed
knowledge and understanding of risk management and mitigation techniques - Good
knowledge of general commercial banking practices, guidelines, policies
and procedures. - Excellent
negotiation and conflict management skills to create a cooperative and collaborative
working environment - Comprehensive
knowledge and understanding of managing the local market sales and understanding
of different industry sectors and sector specific risk profiles and
trends. - Understanding
of varied product solutions required within the bank’s customer base and ability
to recommend new products for development in relation to customer feedback
received through Relationship Management - Detailed
knowledge of multi-level products available to commercial customers and
pricing structures - Working
knowledge of social & environment issues/skills
