Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern and Central regions of Uganda, Currently, Save the Children has a staff complement of over 200 persons. In 2013, we reached over 143 million children through our work around 52m directly and 91 million indirectly around the world.

Program Specialist – DCR (1 Position): Amuru
Job Purpose
The job holder takes responsibility for the overall planning, implementation, management and leadership of the DCR Pamoja Project. DCR is a rehabilitative project that focuses on basic health and education service delivery, livelihoods, community governance and sectoral systems strengthening in Northern and Eastern Region. The Specialist takes the lead in coordinating with partners, planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities as well as compiling the plans, budget and project reports for the targeted regions. In addition, the person is responsible for identifying partners, providing leadership to partners and the project teams in the region. The Specialist may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications;
Minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in social sciences, social work and social administration, development studies, education or any relevant field. Post Graduate training in Project Management, Community Development is an added advantage. Have working knowledge of the educational needs of children in Uganda, including Early Childhood Development Education, Basic education and other related programming and policy development.6 years’ experience with at least 3 years in a middle management position in an International NGO particularly those applying partnership approaches, livelihood and addressing children’s rights.General specifications applicable to all positions;
Experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and culturesAbility to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coachingExcellent time management and planning capacity.Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.How to apply:Application information;
