Organization: Roofings LimitedRoofings Ltd is part of the Roofings Group, a number one quality steel manufacturer that supplies over 350,000 metric tons per annum, to both local and export markets within the region. Our offices are situated about 6 km outside Kampala city centre in Lubowa, along Entebbe road.Key Duties and Responsibilities: In charge of implementing safe working practices at the factory and OutletsRoutinely inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measuresIntuitively review plans and specifications for construction/maintenance/repair of machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.Report or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.Interview employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct health inspection violations.Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy.Carry out and / or coordinate direct testing of air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.Offer technical direction and guidance on how to handle occupational health-related problemsInterpret safety regulations for others interested in industrial safety such as safety engineers, labor representatives, and safety committee.Grow and maintain key liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.Write and revise safety regulations and codes.Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.Responsible for planning and conducting industrial hygiene research.Take part in internal safety awareness/sensitisation campaignsProduce regular reports on safety standards and propose appropriate solutions in accordance with applicable legislation and company policiesDefine safety risks at both Factory and OutletsEnsure compliance with the use of safety gears (PPE)Maintain proper records of gears issued to workers and monitor their use.Work closely with the safety committee on issues regarding safety.Work together with Engineers in charge to ensure that there is a safe working environmentQualifications, Skills and Experience: The Safety Officer should hold a good Bachelors’ degree in Engineering preferably in industrial engineering.
