Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern and Central regions of Uganda, Currently, Save the Children has a staff complement of over 200 persons. In 2013, we reached over 143 million children through our work around 52m directly and 91 million indirectly around the world.
Save the Children seeks to fill the following vacant positions and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Persons for the operations.
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Director of Program Operations, the person provides technical assistance and oversight for aspects related to the NORAD funding in Country. The Program Manager is the National level manager of NORAD Framework Program and which is an integrated program comprising of the following thematic areas; Education, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance and Disaster Risk Reduction. The job holder provides overall programmatic and operational lead and management including; planning, implementation, capacity enhancement, monitoring/ evaluation and reporting both internally (within SCI) and externally (for/with partners). The person is accountable for overall coordination and oversight delivery of the NORAD framework program across all the thematic areas of Education, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance and Disaster Risk Reduction in the country. The job holder may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications;
Minimum of a Bachelors’ Degree in humanities. Experience in managing integrated programmes across different thematic areas such as education, child protection, child rights governance or disaster risk reduction is a must.At least 5 years of accrued working experience in program implementation with a minimum of 3 years in a management level position in an international NGO and those applying partnership approaches is desirable.Strategic thinking and planning skills, be able to set priorities, prepare manageable plans and to evaluate progress.General specifications applicable to all positions;
Experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and culturesAbility to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coachingExcellent time management and planning capacity.Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.How to apply:Application letters with detailed CVs indicating 3 referees, two of whom should have been direct supervisors should be submitted to:
