Organisation: Bicycles Against Poverty (BAP)

Bicycles
Against Poverty utilizes bicycles to increase accessibility to critical
resources, facilitate community cooperation, and build financial management
skills among low income entrepreneurs. Bicycles Against Poverty (BAP) will have
over 1,000 active bicycle loans and will be adding new products to our line by
September.
Job Summary: The Credit Manager will provide support to Bicycles
Against Poverty (BAP)’s growing office in Gulu. The jobholder will mainly provide
support in the provision of assets on a financing plan, allowing clients to pay
for income generating assets in small installments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Credit Manager duties and
responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish and monitor credit policies to
ensure organization meets sales and risk management goals - The jobholder will design documents,
procedures, and credit policies needed to enhance systems and processes
- Evaluate credit worthiness/risk of groups and
individuals - Supervise and train a growing team of Loan
Officers and Credit Supervisor, and ensure that they are performing their
duties - Keenly monitor repayment rates and ensure loan
staff follow-up on late loans - Work with management to craft procedures and
policies - Travel regularly to the field to monitor
activities and meet with customers
3. Product Development: Assist in
designing new products and incorporation of such products into model
- Keenly analyze current customer relations and
evaluate direction for organization - Draft policies for improved customer
relations
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should ideally hold a Degree
from recognized university in finance, business administration or related field - A minimum of four years of demonstrated
experience in credit and collections - Strong interest in learning ways in which
business solutions can be incorporated into development organisations - Willingness and eager to work non-traditional
business hours to ensure tasks are completed - Prior experience as a supervisor or manager
in credit department strongly desired - Possess strong leadership and interpersonal
skills with the ability to motivate staff - Strong problem solving and financial analysis
skills - Good computer skills including Microsoft
Excel - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of flexibility and ability to
work on diverse team - Previous experience with loan management
system preferred - Detail oriented
- Fluency in English required
