Job Summary: The Tax Manager will primarily ensure that all
statutory returns including settlement are completed accurately, efficiently
and on time and that the surrounding internal control procedures are strictly
adhered to. The jobholder will also facilitate collation, organization and
provision of information to tax authorities for routine requests and audits,
addresses ad hoc queries and ensures timely resolution, maintains prompt and
helpful service to tax authorities to develop constructive relationship
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all Tax reporting
requirements and deadlines - Maintain issues tracker on outstanding issues
from tax authorities and Group Tax - Serve as the primary point of contact with
tax authorities and Group Tax (receiver of queries, communication to DBSC
ITT, agreement of deadlines, co-ordination of resolution), own the
compliance agenda - Co-ordination and project management of
complex queries, audits and initiatives, engagement with markets - In charge of the identification and
escalation of issues and risks to Group Tax - Effectively manage a high performing team
- Deliver process (efficiency and control)
improvements continuously
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Diageo Tax manager
placement should be a graduate in Finance or Accounting with a recognised
accountancy / tax qualification - A minimum of five years’ experience in
accounting / tax - Tax policy knowledge and experience
- Customer relationship / business partnering
skills: able to build and maintain excellent relationship with Group Tax,
the tax authorities and in-market finance teams - Significant experience influencing senior
external stakeholders and government - Previous exposure and experience in working
in a multinational financial position, within different commercial /
cultural markets - Prior experience of actively contributing to
a leadership team - Project management skills: able to construct
project plans across boundaries and cultures and to monitor the
implementation - Good understanding of systems, processes and
technologies to enhance business performance - Strong risk management skills (identification
of risks, ensuring mitigation plans are in place and implemented) - Good change management skills
