LifeNet International is a non-profit organization that creates innovative solutions for the everyday health challenges facing East Africa’s poor. In 2012, LN launched a conversion franchise network in Burundi, East Africa to build to capacity of local faith-based clinics and hospitals through nurse training, management training, growth financing and medicine supply. We have rapidly expanded to a network of 70 partner facilities in Burundi and Uganda. In 2016, LN will be scaling up in Uganda and launching operations in the D.R. Congo. Our goal is to improve clinical performance 50% within 24 months of partnership, but we regularly see performance double in that time. In addition, LN aims to help clinics achieve financial sustainability through our medicine supply and equipment financing. By 2025, we plan to double the quality of care received in 20,000,000 patients visits to 1,000 franchised clinics operating in 10 East African countries.
Job Summary: The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will support LifeNet’s leaders by developing and managing LifeNet’s monitoring and evaluation systems and will be responsible for providing timely program data and indicators in order to ensure effective program management and ultimately prove program impact. Importantly, the M&E Officer will recommend and implement health outcome metrics as well as refine existing measurements of our programs focused on our key outcomes: reducing maternal, infant, and child mortality, as well as increasing sustainability and access to quality medicines. One of LN’s strengths is monitoring and evaluation of our training programs and our existing tools help drive the implementation of clinical best practices. The M&E Officer would also steer the establishment of M&E systems for operations at scale.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Carry our detailed analysis of health outcome metrics as well as feasibility studies
Responsible for piloting increasingly efficient methods of data collection
In charge of coordinating and performing data collection, data management, calculating metrics, results analysis, and reporting across LN programs and countries
Preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual M&E reports and metrics for the ED and for fundraising
Recommending metrics to leadership
Responsible for strategic planning for LifeNet’s M&E and implementation
In charge of monitoring internal KPIs and processes to increase LN’s efficiency
In charge of utilizing and managing LN’s Salesforce M&E database
Mentoring and training LN staff as needed on metrics
Performing any other duties as required by the supervisor / management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer job placement should preferably hold a postgraduate degree in a related field such as public health, epidemiology, international development, economics, statistics or mathematics, business management, or finance, with a strong research and statistical analysis component
Broad working knowledge of and experience in data collection, complex data analysis presentation
Previous exposure and experience analyzing complex problems, identifying innovative solutions, and engaging others to implement, preferably in a resource-limited setting
The ideal candidate is driven, organized, dependable, and tech savvy.
Prior business or management experience is an added advantage
Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in office software and excellent working knowledge of data analysis and graphic representation with Excel and other statistical packages; additional data visualization skills are an added advantage
Self-managing individual who takes initiative and can perform well in an entrepreneurial environment, asking for help when needed
Adept at using and comfortable with learning new information technology
Working knowledge of Salesforce and ODK preferred
Independent, resilient, and willing to live and work in the Ugandan cultural and political context
Alignment with LN’s Christian identity and mission philosophy and sensitivity to LN partners’ religious beliefs and contexts
