Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) is a
voluntary membership organization established and fully owned by the Employers.
It was founded in 1958 as the representative body of all Employers in Uganda.
It was registered as an Association in 1960 under the Trustee Incorporation
Act. It’s a voice of all Employers on Social and Economic issues. It is an organization
that advocates for Employers rights.
Job
Summary: The Communications
and Customer Relations Officer will support the Marketing Manager in providing
editorial, strategic, creative and operational support across FUE’ work. The
incumbent will also play a key role in ensuring FUE’s communications are both
influential and informative for the full range of our stakeholders.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Provide
advice to FUE on internal and external communications.
·
Develop
communication objectives and communication plans.
·
Arrange
publicity for the organization through different outlets and maitain the corporate
communications strategy to increase and promote FUE awareness.
·
The
incumbent will compose, edit, design, record, produce publications such as
newsletters, leaflets and brochures.
·
Update
the company website, blogs, on a daily basis.
·
Write
news releases, speeches and articles with the help and guidance of the Manager
and/or Director CO/MMD and/or ED.
·
Write
and implement communication of promotional plans.
·
Keep
staff and clients up to date with company news.
·
Build
and strengthen working relationships with Media and provide the public with
information when it is requested
·
Coordinates
and approve the work of artists, photographers and printers and monitors work
in progress
·
Render
support in web development and technological enhancements and ensure interactive
social media presence on all FUE social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube,
Google +, Linkedin, etc)
·
In
charge of negotiating rates and orders advertising for print, television or
radio.
·
Implement
communications, marketing, advertising and publishing strategies, which promote
the key policies and programs of the department.
·
Plan,
write, edit and publish a variety of communications and other documents, which
present a positive image of the department to the public eg. News Letter, Annual
Reports etc.
·
Provide
advice to internal clients by analyzing their specific communication needs, and
assisting in the planning, development and implementation of creative strategies
as required.
·
Carry
out specific communications tasks, including speech writing, media release preparation
and distribution, promotional launches, displays and other special events.
·
Work
closely with departmental clients and external agencies to plan creative
strategies for special events, launches, displays and other promotions, which
highlight the achievements of the department.
·
Render
support in the implementation of promotional launches, special events and
displays.
·
In
charge of the review and development of systems and procedures that improve the
efficiency and effectiveness of the team and provide a quality service to
clients.
·
Ensure
all communication policies, plans and documents reflect the need to establish a
work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination and harassment, that
equal opportunity is applied to all staff under supervision and that the
principles of cultural diversity are applied in responding to the work of the
branch or the needs of individuals.
·
Plan
and undertake communications duties to contribute to the Department’s media projects
and tasks through the electronic and print media.
·
Assume
project responsibility for public relations tasks, including promotional launches,
displays and other special events.
·
Act
as a consultant to internal clients to analyse specific public communication needs,
and plan and implement creative strategies as required.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
·
The
ideal candidate should preferably hold a university degree preferably in
Communication area
·
At
least two years’ experience in a role(s) of Communications or Public Affairs.
·
Strong
project management/organizational skills.
·
Demonstrated
ability to use spreadsheets to analyze data and spot trends.
·
Ability
to work with minimal supervision.
·
Excellent
communication and presentation skills.
·
Excellent
analytical skills.
·
Excellent
inter-personal skills.
·
High
degree of honesty and integrity
·
Broad
knowledge and understanding of the modus operations of press offices,
publication houses and media, as well as stakeholder organisations like NOTU,
COFTU, MGLSD, MoES & MFPED, MPS
·
Excellent
communication skills
·
Ability
to develop and execute a communication plan.
·
Excellent
communication skills (both written and oral)
·
Computer,
desktop publishing skills, experience in web design
·
High
degree of creativity to communicate in different ways (Ability to write in a
variety of styles to appeal to different audiences)
·
Resilient,
with the ability to work to deadlines and maintain high levels of professionalism
while managing multiple demands.
