Global Health Corps pairs intelligent and
passionate fellows with organizations that require new thinking and innovative
solutions. We provide these young leaders with the tools to remain connected
after their fellowship year finishes, deepening their ability to enact change
through heightened skills and strong partnerships. We currently place fellows
in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the United States, and Zambia.
Days for Girls Uganda’s mission is to
create a more dignified, free, and educated world through access to lasting
feminine hygiene solutions. This mission is powered by our three- tier model
offering locally made, high-quality washable menstrual hygiene kits, reproductive
health education training, and women-led enterprise development. Our current
priorities include strengthening our program delivery through regular
evaluation, assessment, and refresher trainings of our program staff, creation
of follow-up support resources for program participants, and improved
monitoring and evaluation systems. Our aim is to fully prove our model in 2016
to allow for scale, replication, and adaption to expand to other countries in
2016 and 2017.
Job Summary: The Program Officer will support the Program
Manager in planning, implementing, and delivering the Days for Girls innovative
training programs in our office and across the country. Days for Girls
anticipates offering enterprise development trainings in Kampala, and educational
trainings across the country in regions as diverse as Karamoja, Masindi, Aura,
Kabale, and more. The job holder will work in liaison with the Program Manager
to coordinate with partners, organize training logistics, deliver training
material, and train contract-basis trainers. The Program Officer will also work
closely with the Monitoring Officer to collect relevant program data through
tools including surveys, interviews, photographs, and other media. Finally,
this person will provide capacity building support to our in-country team and
strengthen the operational systems of the organization on the ground.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible
for the analysis and improvement of organizational systems including workflow
procedures, internal and external communication strategies, and change
management
·
Supporting
partnership development with the Program Manager by identifying and recruiting
new partners, and strengthening relationships with existing partners
·
Organize
program logistics (communicate with school or partner organization, organize
transportation, create program agenda, ensure team has all materials necessary
to run program)
·
Render
support in the facilitation of reproductive health training
·
Assist
with facilitation of entrepreneurship training
·
Create
teaching materials when necessary
·
Provide
enterprise development support and resources to Days for Girls Enterprises
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

Previous
experience working in the field of sexual reproductive health is desired

Willingness
to travel approximately 25% within the country
Job Terms and Conditions: Fellows will be provided with housing,
health insurance and a living stipend of $550/month. Additionally, fellows will
receive an award of $1500 upon successful completion of the fellowship year.
Flights to and from the placement site and all other costs associated with GHC
programming are included, including $600 in professional development funds. Housing
arrangements vary based on the placement organization and location within the
country. Days for Girls Uganda provides a private room in a four-bedroom shared
house. This house is located within the same compound as our office. Fellows
will have full access to the office kitchen 24/7 and Wi-Fi. The office is
located in a safe residential neighborhood not far from Acacia Mall in Kisementi
– a neighborhood in Kampala, an urban center.
Note:
The living stipend and completion award may be paid out in USD or local
currency, as determined by the placement organization.
