The

International Rescue Committee helps people whose lives and livelihoods are

shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their

future. It was created by Albert Einstein more than 80 years and has been

working in Uganda since 1998. It has particularly working in the conflict zones

where tens of thousands of people have been kills and over 1.6 million

displaced. Following a peace agreement in 2006, Ugandans are returning home and

looking to rebuild their lives. The IRC is there to protect women and children

from violence and exploitation by fostering a safe environment and encouraging

education, and is supporting farmers and small businesses, and helping

communities promote peace and long-term development.


Job

Summary:
The Supply Chain / IT Officer will be responsible for maintaining IRC

stores, receiving and dispatching goods, supporting IT operation and managing

all paperwork/ records related to the tracking of IRC inventory.


Key

Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Supports in developing a comprehensive strategy of

Supply Chain management in the Kitgum office;


·        
Ensure that staff are in compliance with Supply

Chain policies and procedures.


·        
Directly supervise Head Driver/Mechanic in Kitgum

field office and ensure timely performance evaluations are done;


·        
Works closely with the Supply Chain department in

Kampala for any technical support, policies, and guidelines;


·        
Keenly track budgets and usage on Kitgum Supply

Chain grants and advises management accordingly;


·        
Supervise the establishment and maintenance of an

efficient storage and inventory system;


·        
Ensure proper tracking of all IRC assets and

produce monthly reports;


·        
Set up a proper chain follow-up; order, purchase,

delivery and storage control, vehicle use, fuel tracking etc including updating

of list of potential vendors;


·        
Supervise the establishment and management of

purchasing/procurement system in accordance with IRC standard policies and

procedures.


·        
Ensure daily security clearances are done before

vehicles move to the field and ensure regular updates on security matrix on

security situations in the field.


Qualifications,

Skills and Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s

Degree in Procurement and logistics, computer Science/information Technology.

Training in stores/warehouse management,


·        
At least two years’ experience in a similar

position with a busy organization.


·        
Working knowledge of generic store management

systems and forms


·        
Physically mobile, able to lift 30kg without

strain.


·        
Competent in spoken and written English


·        
Competent in computer use and maintenance


·        
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time

management skills


NB:

Female and Ugandan nationals are strongly encouraged to apply. International
