Thematic Research Head – BRAC


Key Responsibilities
• Initiate new projects in consultation with respective programme and research teams, mobilize resources and build relationships with external research partners.
• Ensure project adherence in the field to general research design, sample selection, data management and analysis, and overall project management.
• Oversee project financial management
• Work with relevant departments to ensure sound human resource development and operational management of projects.
• Directly supervise and mentoring project researchers (Research Associates, Research Assistants, Field Supervisors), and help with continuation and on-boarding of new research staff
• Promote inter-project best practices and take a lead in sharing best practices with projects through periodical meetings and training opportunities
• Attend meetings with development organizations, universities, and government officials
• Support the dissemination of results via presentations and reports to academic and non-academic audiences
• Maintain effective communication between BRAC International, Country Representative and Program Managers for all developments on the research projects


Educational Requirements
Postgraduate degree, preferably PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health, Rural Development or any related discipline


Experience & Skill Requirements
• Excellent demonstrated ability to coordinate with other important organization
• Excellent and analytical and demonstrated ability to write reports and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals
• Ability to combine quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Experience with data management, statistics, and advanced knowledge of Stata, Nvivo, Atlas ti or any other data analysis packages
• Strong qualitative and quantitative skills
• Ability to supervise and qualitative and quantitative skills
• Ability to identify relevant partners, maintain existing relations, and build new linkages and effectively facilitate stakeholder processes on poverty issues
