Tugende is a
for-profit social enterprise that helps motorcycle taxi drivers in Uganda own
their own motorcycles via a fair, transparent lease model instead of renting
indefinitely. Ownership significantly increases income, job security and road safety.
Across
Uganda, and many other emerging markets, motorcycles help drive the economy,
mitigating traffic jams and bad roads as well as offering hundreds of thousands
of jobs for those with little formal education. Tugende is proving that
millions of self the equipment they use to provide for their families, even
without credit histories, collateral, and in industries considered high risk by
traditional lenders.
Job
Summary: The Head of Business Analytics and Research will render support through
the use of hard evidence to help serve over 1,600 customers in Kampala and two
other Ugandan cities and we plan to expand quickly over the next few years.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversee, supervise and execute
collection and analysis of data to improve operations:
·
Carry out data-mining, modeling and hypothesis
generation in support of high-level business goals.
·
Use qualitative and quantitative data analysis to
identify opportunities for streamlining both internal and external operations.
·
In charge of improving Tugende’s technique for
communicating and setting tasks to staff.
2. Design, Manage and Report on Social
Impact Based on Quantitative and Qualitative Data: Coordinate
internal data collection with best practices for social impact and external
researchers to produce qualitative and quantitative support on Tugende’s
economic and social impact on customers.
3. Lead Technology Deployment and Support
across Tugende:
·
Oversee the development, deployment, and
improvements to Tugende’s systems for collecting and managing data, including
Salesforce and other relevant platforms. Manage internal development team and
external consultants.

Optimize Tugende’s data security
·
Supervise training and other efforts to increase
technology skills of all staff, including technical support.
·
Manage any additional hires in this department.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
·
The applicant should hold a graduate level degree
in a quantitative discipline.
·
Possess excellent oral and written communication
skills to present data as a concise story for diverse audiences.
·
Previous experience mining large amounts of data
to build predictive and descriptive statistical models
·
Extensive knowledge of IT and ability to support
staff in any IT issues.
·
Demonstrated ability to manage confidential
information and situations with efficiency, flexibility and diplomacy.
·
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a
demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems and use good judgment in
decision-making.
·
Keen interest in applying skills in social
enterprise to change the face of the boda industry.
·
Strong project management and communication skills
are desired
·
Previous experience working in a similar
finance-related business is an added advantage
