About USAID ERICCA Project:


The

USAID/Uganda Education and Research to Improve Climate Change Adaptation

Activity (ERICCA) is assisting in the establishment of the Makerere University

Centre for Climate Change Research and Innovations (MUCCRI) as a recognized

national and regional hub of academic, professional development and research

excellence in climate science, climate adaptation, and related disciplines.

Under ERICCA, FHI 360 is mobilizing leading academics, scientists, and

researchers to work side-by-side and in partnership with Ugandan colleagues to

build upon the foundational efforts made by Makerere University College of

Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) and others to date.


Job Summary: The Climate Change Technical Associate supports

the ERICCA’s Climate Adaptation Specialist and Chief-of-Party (COP) in the

day-to-day technical needs of the program. The incumbent will support the

implementation of the technical direction of activities and, on an as needed

basis, the operations of ERICCA. The Climate Change technical Associate will

contribute to innovative climate change adaptation technical assistance of

ERICCA.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Offer support to technical team in drafting

    reports, presentations, articles, and communications materials

  • Provide range of coordination support to

    technical team for events, including the MUCCRI/ERICCA seminar series,

    Climate Change Boot Camps, and Climate Champions, among others

  • Support the technical team in preparing and

    conducting both internal and external presentations, trainings, and other

    outreach modalities

  • Gather information and data, including

    internet, phone and literature research for use on knowledge hub/website


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should preferably hold a

    Master’s degree in one of the following fields: environmental science or

    management, natural resource management, fisheries, conservation, natural

    science, or other relevant international development field with bias

    towards climate change adaptation.

  • One year of experience and familiarity with

    issues of climate change adaptation, climate change related planning;

    agricultural and environmental science, resilience building, and

    sustainable development

  • Demonstrated strong research habits and

    skills

  • Significant experience in communicating

    quantitative and technical analysis and/or modeling to non-technical

    audiences

  • Proven ability to clearly communicate

    research and analysis, orally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and

    Power point required
