The World Food

Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency against world hunger. It

is the largest and longest serving humanitarian agency in Uganda. Currently WFP

focuses on three priority areas namely: Emergency Humanitarian Action (EHA);

Food & Nutrition Security (FNS); and Agriculture & Market Support

(AMS). WFP has operations in various parts of the Country.


The WFP

Post-Harvest Loss Eradication (PHLE) work in Uganda is currently being

implemented in 22 districts of Uganda targeting 40,000 farmers. The project is

being implemented in partnership with 8 NGO partners across 6 regions of the

country and these are responsible for farmer mobilisation and training.


Job Summary:  The Business Support Assistant (Post Harvest

Loss Eradication) will support the World Food Programme (WFP) primarily in data

management.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Receive information from different NGOs and Private

sector distributors that are engaged in the training, and enter it into the

beneficiary management database on a weekly basis;


·        
Quickly respond to queries and escalate where

appropriate, in order to provide timely and accurate services to clients;


·        
The job holder will provide information to

colleagues for drafting of documents and preparing reports;


·        
Identify simple discrepancies in statistics and

data, such as missing information, and report to senior staff in order to

support clients to deliver their work;


·        
Process and manage routine administrative and

financial tasks in various functional areas;


·        
Revise and proof-read standard documents so as to

contribute to the development of accurate documentation;


·        
Maintain set standard systems and files, to ensure

information is accurate and readily available for the function;


·        
The incumbent will ensure data integrity to

facilitate availability of accurate information in corporate systems;


·        
Provide assistance on routine business support

methods and practices to staff to ensure services are delivered consistently

and to the required standards;


·        
Work closely with a variety of individuals, taking

on feedback where appropriate to assist in business support delivery for staff;


·        
Perform any other duties as assigned by the

Administration Officer.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate for the World Food Programme WFP

Business Support Assistant (Post Harvest Loss Eradication)  vacancy should hold a University degree or

Diploma in Social sciences, Education or a diploma in Statistics or any other

related field attained from a recognized institution;


·        
A minimum of four (4) years post graduate relevant

working experience in administrative work or any other related field gained

from reputable organizations;


·        
Good working knowledge and experience using MS

Office applications.


·        
Language: Proficiency in

both oral and written English is essential
