Protecting

Families Against HIV/AIDS (PREFA) is an indigenous Non-Governmental

Organization (NGO) that was formed to contribute to Uganda’s efforts in

enhancing access to quality HIV/AIDS prevention, care, treatment, and support

services to families with a historical focus on Elimination of Mother-to-Child

Transmission (eMTCT) of HIV. PREFA has secured funding for interventions

against Commercial Sex Exploitation of Children (CSEC), targeting the areas of

Kampala and Wakiso.


Job Summary: The Project Officer – CSEC will offer technical

support and guidance in the planning, implementation as well as monitoring and

evaluation of activities to counter CSEC in Kampala & Wakiso Districts.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • The incumbent will serve as the primary link

    person between the three implementing partners in this project in the day

    to day activities.

  • Ensure a functional and effective feedback

    platform for various implementing partners.

  • Provide technical support to the three

    implementing partners for the interventions against CSEC.

  • Effective coordination mechanism with various

    stakeholders – Law Enforcement, Health System, and relevant Government

    structures etc.

  • Responsible for the preparation and submission

    of timely work plans submitted to PREFA & shared with the relevant

    stakeholders.

  • Preparation and submission of timely,

    comprehensive and accurate reports.

  • Ensure increased awareness about and

    involvement of various stakeholders in interventions against CSEC right

    from Community level.

  • Engage various stakeholders on policy in the

    area of CSEC.

  • Regularly and continuously update and

    document performance indicators for monitoring CSEC activities.

  • Guide the entire project on documentation of

    success stories and lessons in CSEC that can enable the writing of a Best

    Practice document (to be published in a Peer reviewed platform) that can

    be used for benchmarking implementation of similar projects.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

  • The ideal candidate for the Project Officer –

    CSEC should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Adult &

    Community Education Social Works and Social Administration or Development

    Studies. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in any health related field or

    Project Planning & management will also be considered

  • The applicant should preferably have training

    and skills in Monitoring and Evaluation.

  • Good report and scientific writing skills

  • Computer literacy i.e. proficiency in Microsoft

    Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office Packages.

  • Good team player.

  • Previous experience working with district

    & community structures.

  • Prior exposure and experience implementing a

    similar project is an added advantage.
