Muni

University is a Public university established by the Uganda Government by

Statutory Instrument, 2013 No. 31, in accordance with the Universities &

Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2006 as amended. Muni University campus is

located in Arua District, 3Km South of Arua town in North-Western Uganda.


Job Summary: The Engineer will support the University Engineer

in planning, developing, controlling and coordinating all estates activities of

the University.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Keenly monitors major capital development

    works to ensure that design standards are not compromised.

  • Ensures that all University machines and

    equipment are constantly kept in good working order.

  • Provides technical and professional advice to

    the University secretary on issues related to equipment, works, capital

    development projects and maintenance of physical infrastructure in the

    University.

  • Supervises installations, operation,

    maintenance and repair of machines and equipment.

  • Confers with other engineers, technicians and

    other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve mechanical,

    electrical and plumbing system malfunctions and provide required technical

    information.

  • Prepares estates reports as required.

  • Mentors and supervises Staff, assesses

    performance and identifies training needs and recommends appropriate

    training.


Key Performance Indicators:

  • Inventory on all University machines and

    equipment kept.

  • Periodic reports on major capital development

    works submitted.

  • Periodic reports on installations, operation

    and maintenance and repair of machines and equipment submitted.

  • Reports for the University Engineer as

    required.

  • Performance assessment conducted by 31st July

    and performance plans agreed with Staff by 31st August every year.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should hold a degree in Civil

    Engineering from a recognized institution.

  • Possession of a Postgraduate Diploma in

    Project Planning and Management.

  • A minimum of three years’  relevant experience.

  • Excellent communication, leadership and

    interpersonal skills.

  • Computer literacy skills

  • Ability to work as a member of a team.

  • Impeccable level of integrity.
